Breccia Crossroads: The Town On All Roads

Post by Admin on Mon Feb 12, 2018 12:01 am

Breccia Crossroads sits directly in the centre of the region, with five roads leading out of the town. It is a medium size town that constantly seems to be changing, as new people arrive from around the region. Most of these are trainers exploring with their pokemon, travelling through the town towards their next destination. Those who call it home are as varied as the roads it leads to; researchers at the laboratory out of town and the observatory in the mountains to the north, crafters and salespeople who welcome the inflow of trainers seeking to buy their products, the punks who hang out under the bridge into the town.

Notable Locations in the Town:
Professor Magnolia's lab: The lab at the edge of town, a former airport hanger converted into an in-door reserve, specialises in studying the psychology of Pokemon, and understanding their behaviour. Most of the Pokemon who live here have some form of issue, either a injury or a behavioural issue that means they struggle in the wild, so some of the focus of the lab has moved more in the direction of caring for these edge cases. The Professor has her hands full dealing with everything, but one of her aides is a common sight around town, interviewing trainers and their Pokemon. They also spend a lot of time researching Pokemon behaviour in the wild. The lab is a common location for new trainers to start their journey and get their starter Pokemon.

Breccia Square: The Square is the heart of the town's thriving foot traffic. Here, travelling trainers rest, buy vitamins and TMs from the vendors, and engage in friendly battles. Around the square are a number of places to stay, ranging from the ever popular "here's a place to pitch your tent" in the small park, through simple bed and breakfasts to the Zirconia Hotel for the more wealthy travellers who pass through.

The Old Gym: once upon a time, Breccia Town had a well established gym in the Pokemon League system. However, the old gym leader retired nearly a decade ago without leaving a proper successor, so the gym ended up being moved to a different town, leaving Breccia Gym to fall into disrepair. There is a movement in town to restore it, but so far it has been having problems.

Cebble and Gyras Rivers: Breccia Crossroads has two rivers flowing through it; the smaller Cebble flows into and feeds the Gyras. Most river traffic uses the Cebble River, particularly in winter; as the name suggests, the Gyras is used by mountain Gyrados on their journey to spawn. The town occasionally floods due to the rivers, but most of the area is raised up to avoid this.

Crossroads Day Care: Located on the east side of town, Crossroads Day Care has been looking after Trainers’ Pokémon at the Breccia Crossroads for 47 years. The Day Care is run by an elderly couple, known throughout town and beyond as the Day Care Man and the Day Care Lady, and their granddaughter Bree. Volunteers who are learning the ropes in Pokémon breeding - or who just like Pokémon - help out with odd jobs from time to time, and the proprietors try to give them something to pay them back even if it’s not monetary.

The large house of the Day Care has plenty of space to shelter Pokémon in harsh weather or if they simply prefer to be indoors, while the fenced-off field outside has an area of dense trees and a deceptively deep pond. There are also a number of Egg incubators to protect any Eggs produced by Pokémon guests and prepare them for hatching. Crossroads Day Care accepts only 2 Pokémon per Trainer, up to a limit of 20 Pokémon total, to ensure that every Pokémon gets proper care and attention.
